The u3a Movement
The University of the Third Age (u3a) movement is a unique and exciting organisation which provides, through its u3a's, life-enhancing and life-changing opportunities.
It’s a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.
Retired and semi-retired people come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for its own reward: the sheer joy of discovery!
Members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and the teachers learn . . . there is no distinction between them.
The u3a Movement consists of local u3a's all over the United Kingdom which are charities in their own right and run entirely by volunteers.
A typical u3a has about 250 members but could be as small as 12 or as large as 2000.
The u3a Movement is supported by its national organisation, The Third Age Trust.
