Walking Group
Two walks have been arranged for this month.
The short walk for May is planned for Friday 5th May starting at approx. 10.30 am meeting outside Topknot Hairdresser/The Embankment Bar on Trent Bridge. The walk will take in part of the Meadows Area, Wilford Village and a walk back via the tramline to catch a tram from Wilford Toll Bridge back to the Midland Station or Friar Lane. The walk is 3 miles in length and on well defined paths giving the young at heart (or silly old fools) the chance to try some adult exercise equipment. We will wait at Trent Bridge for the usually 10.16 am Cotgrave Connection and the 10.11 am V2 buses.
The longer walk will be on the 3rd Friday - 19th May at 10.am. This will be a new time reflecting popular view that its better to get started a bit earlier.
Details are as follows. Start at Rushcliffe Halt, Gotham Lane just as you come into East Leake. We will walk to West Leake than back across the hills/Rushcliffe Golf Course. Approx 6 miles say 3 hours.
Parking - I parked by Rushcliffe Halt but parking is limited there so you may need to proceed a bit further into the village to find street parking.
To find Rushcliffe Halt you can find your way south-bound through Bunny on the A60. leaving Bunny turn right along Gotham Lane (past electricals warehouse). After a couple of miles roughly there is a T-junction. Turn left and the road does a dog-leg across the old railway line. Rushcliffe Halt is immediately on the left hand side.
