Science
The Science and Technology Group meets monthly in The Methodist Church Hall at 2.00pm on the third Thursday of the Month.
The group used to be called “The Science Group” but the organiser, John Orton, has decided to retire after many years’ sterling service. Jim Benn has taken over but Jim is an engineer, not a scientist, so the group has broadened its remit to cover Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (what our grandchildren call STEM!). We aim to cover these subjects simply (at least at first) and with fun and entertainment. To give you an idea, in 2023 we have covered and hope to cover The Saga of the blue LED, Oil Drilling Technology, How an Aeroplane Flies, Fire Safety in Buildings, Medical Geology. Christmas for Scientists and lots of other things as well. We have some visiting speakers as well as our own clever members. Do come along (you can come as a visitor at first). You might learn something but you will have some fun!
For more details please use the button below to email your contact details, with Science in the subject line and the organiser will get in contact with you.
